The Stjernehimmelen front page: a dark night sky with a search field and the button “Tenn en stjerne”.

Designed and built Stjernehimmelen for the Norwegian association Et barn for lite, which works to make sure everyone who loses a child, whatever the cause of death or the child's age, gets the help they need. The gifts given on the sky go in full to this work.

The sky is open for anyone to look at. Visitors can drag and zoom around it, search for a star by name or year, and light a candle at someone else's star. Whoever lights a star decides who can see it. Every star shines equally bright and for equally long, whatever the size of the gift, so there is no ranking.

Login and payment run through Vipps, monthly gifts included, and what you write is saved as a draft along the way, so nothing is lost if the connection drops or a payment is interrupted. It is built with Next.js and TypeScript, with PostgreSQL as the database, Sanity for editorial content and a WebGL backdrop in Three.js.
